Parallel Currency Designs | United Kingdom

These are details of designs for a proposed parallel currency for the UK, for Twenty, Ten and Five values (top to bottom). The designs are for the reverse of the notes, and each reference a different phenomenon in nature. As a parallel currency, the notes are the same size and feature similar colour combinations as the present Bank of England notes.

The Twenty is based on ‘the hexagon in nature’, featuring honeycombs, snowflakes, benzene rings, molecular and electromagnetic structures. The Ten is based on the theme of ‘self-referentiality’, and features a watch mechanism, solar system, and carbon atom nucleus. The Five denomination design is based on the Fibonacci sequence, and features a peacock, surrounded by related geometry.
